The results of the poll are sufficient for me to start wondering if I should just stay away from roads. I do know that "texting while driving" is ill-specified -- some of you might only send messages when stationary, some of you might only send messages when nobody else is around, some of you might send messages while plowing through crosswalks. I dunno. For the record, I have read text messages while driving, but I absolutely refuse to send them, if only because there is no way for me to enter a complete message in the time that it takes a traffic light to turn from red to green.

Anyway, one week to Hot Tub. Woo!

SMS messaging is the only way to go in Ghana. Logically, since it is much cheaper than min/min conversations, it might've made more sense to talk to everyone home using SMS. That is, if I actually knew how to properly make SMS, and if everyone here corresponded with them.

That being said, I'm just waiting for the day SMS messaging is somehow wired into the steering wheel. Like how they did with phone systems/Bluetooths in new cars.

I've actually found an interesting deterrent in my newest phone--its on-screen keyboard. When I had actual buttons, I could text by touch (meaning only lose half of my attention while driving) and then check my spelling at red lights. Now that I don't have buttons or any other indicator of finger position, I can't text without looking. I'm not willing to give up my full attention while driving, so I can't/won't text in the car at all anymore.
