No account? Create an account

Based on the results of my last poll, I went ahead and created another Facebook account because the "Yes" outnumbered the "No".

But I made it with a completely different fake name and told nobody about it because the "Huh?" outnumbered the "Yes".

The account has existed for just over a month now, and despite the fact it has zero friends and never sees use, Facebook hasn't deleted it. I thought they'd have a process in place to weed out inactive accounts, especially inactive accounts with completely implausible names, but it's still there. Then again, the first time around, they seemed to think my real name was completely implausible anyway, and wouldn't let me rename. Well, not my concern.

Hmm. I wonder if they deal with spam account creation robots.

I have Facebook friends named "Thezombiefetus Atemycarkeys", "Espresso Buzz", and "Misery Lou." But as of a couple weeks ago, Owl Goingback, a Native American Young Adult author, couldn't get an account because Facebook rejected his name.

fb has *something* like you describe, but i'm pretty sure that you have to have friends to activate autoemails that remind you to get back on to fb. the person who registered on fb as dark.note@gmail.com apparently didn't log into his fb account for a while and when that happened i got notification about it, saying "there are new posts on your wall!" or something.
